We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer who can make our groundbreaking design concepts into reality, turning conceptual product designs into detailed 2D drawings, doing all the necessary strength simulations and finding and working with suppliers to get things mass produced. 

You not only quickly assess if something can work, but on top of that will come up with 10 other smart alternative ways of solving it. You have a hands-on prototyping approach trying to convince us of your mechanical concepts. You’ll be part of our world-class product design team in Taipei.

The Product designer works not only on improving VanMoof’s existing products but also future products. You’ll closely work within the product design team as well as with our external suppliers.

In this role, you're responsible to deliver, proof concepts, detail drawings, strength analysis, quality control and feasibility studies. In addition you'll be proactively up to date with relevant new technologies and help us translate this to unique ideas and solutions.

You'll work closely with the R&D director, Product design and purchasing team, as well as external development and design partners.

As our Mechanical Engineer, you will: 

  • Develop functional solutions to ideas/concepts and quickly create prototypes to assess feasibility, strength and producibility
  • From concept to in the market: deliver detail drawings, ready to be produced.
  • Works with design team and supplier to come up with new functional solutions and the optimal solution for production.
  • Knows the importance of materials, construction, mechanisms, color, surface, finish and manufacturing process and shares this knowledge with the wider development team.
  • Proactively researches emerging new technologies to create new opportunities.
  • Closely work with production partners to realize designs, prepare for production and improving existing products.

The Mechanical Engineer we're looking for has: 

  • 4-5 years experience in mechanical engineering
  • Educational background: Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Proven product examples from bright idea to production
  • Has an unstoppable curiosity and passion for researching new technology and opportunities
  • Able to work with and steer external development partners.
  • Outstanding visualisation, 3D modeling skills and strength analysis (Solidworks, FEA-ANSYS or similar)
  • Comfortable working independently or within a small team
  • Available 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. But we always go the extra mile when it is needed.
